"Let Your Light Shine!"

While on vacation this evening, Brian and I went fishing. As darkness set in, I found myself frustrated because I didn't have what I needed to be able to see when I cast out my line or see the line when I was reeling it in. Imagine trying to fish in the dark - you can’t see the water, the bait, or the hook, so you’re aimlessly throwing out your line, hoping to catch something. That is how our world feels right now - there’s no hope in a world full of darkness. People all around us are looking for a lifeline. That is why it is so important to spread the light and love of Christ this Christmas season - without it, our world is just aimlessly flailing in the dark, not knowing what’s waiting for them in the darkness.

The light of Christ brings hope in the darkness, and it is up to us to share the light of Christ with the world. We are called to be the light and the salt of the earth and to bring the hope of Christ to those who desperately need it. We are called to ‘let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven’ (Matthew 5:16). We are called to ‘be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves’ (James 1:22). We are called to ‘walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work’ (Colossians 1:10).
This Christmas, let the light of Jesus shine through us and into the lives of those around us. Be the light that brings joy and hope to those who are in darkness. Be the light that guides those who are lost and confused. Be the light that brings everyone to Jesus. This Christmas season, let us spread the light of Jesus’ love all around us. Let us give the gift of light that brings joy and hope to those who need it, all who are lost and confused. Let the light of Jesus’ love shine so brightly that everyone can see it! ©Rita Larson 12/13/2023
